South of the Border or
North, Their Futures Are Linked

There's nothing dry about "Mixed
Feelings," a half-hour documentary about
urban development in Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego.
The film concerns two contrasting urban landscapes that
have " an inevitable common future," Phillip
Rodriguez, its director, said. Wry commentary
from wistful Mexican and Mexican-American architects
is set to Tijuana's punchy Nortec music (a mix of techno
and norteña, the music of the border) and snappy
digital imagery. "Mixed
Feelings" can be seen on PBS stations in
May.
